Bruges

So I just got back from a 25 day Eurotrip with my dad and brother, and have heaps of photos to post.

I'm gonna upload them in collages like this one to avoid flooding my gallery. They'll be posted in the order they were taken, with some blogging going on in the description, so...


Day 1

We left the house pretty early, and due to me being used to staying up really late, I only got 3 hours of sleep. Not really a problem since the whole day was spent in the car, driving down through Scotland and England. Packed a bunch of stuff to do in the car (DS, books etc), though I never ended up using any of it. The drive was long and uneventful.

Took the ferry from Dover to Dunkirk. Not sure why Britain still bothers with border control, no other countries that we visited in Europe had more than a speed bump at the border. Ate some chips on the ferry and had some beers on the deck, woop.

Got to the hotel pretty late. Since we're dead cheap we stay at places like Etap. We always pack beers to help us sleep as the rooms are really crap, though we eventually got used to them.


Day 2

First place we visited in Europe was the town of Bruges in Belgium. Unfortunately it was raining heavily and we couldn't stay there long as we had to rush over to Brussels in the same day. We only wandered around for 90 minutes or so, looking at the churches and other buildings, and eventually grabbing a Subway for lunch. It's a pretty nice town though, the buildings and roads are all dead old.
