Please give me an option to disable favourites from showing up in my inbox.
I'm really not interested in who favourites my stuff, especially when they don't comment.
It's like "Oh, I have 56 messages!". Nope! Someone just fav'd half my gallery and left me a pointless llama!

Cheers.

Also, favourite this journal, because apparently you can do that now.

PS. I hate what you've done to my journal. The style doesn't match the rest of my page now.
PS2. Make polls a non-subscriber feature plz, cause they're free on Facebook, and they're really the only useful feature subscribers get anyway. If you guys aren't making enough money off ads and prints, then you're doing it wrong.

Edit:  Since this journal's gotten polular, I'll add some more daring suggestions...

PS3. Get rid of journal CSS skins, or at least let me disable them. Inconsistancy is bad site design, and this really puts me off reading journals by other people.
PS4. Fix your file directories so Flash games don't lose their saved data when you update them.
PS5. Let us have 3rd party ads in Flash submissions. I don't see any reason to disallow this, as artists are already free to advertise whatever they like in their journals and author's comments. Why do you want artists to starve?
PS6. Failing the above, share revenue from your own ads with users. Some popular artists generate a hell of a lot of traffic for this site and yet are still struggling to make much money off of their work.
PS7. Your ads generally suck and are rarely relevant to anyone's interests. Since DA is pretty much a social network, you should be able to mine more data on users and target your ads better. Users would understand if it were supporting the artists.

I'd love to have that many favs, so to be honest I think your whining. In fact, most of your updates are kind of annoying, and the "what do you think of premium content" post just makes you loose a lot of respect.

You make good games, I'm not questioning that, but I think I'll stop watching you now and just wait till EBF4 comes out.

just makes you loose a lot of respect.

I didn't realise respect was something that could be tightened, let alone loosened. Anyway, the complaint isn't about having plenty of faves, it's about being notified about them in the hundreds.

I'm not really going to comment on the rest of the mentioned stuff (everyone's entitled to their own opinion), but I'll just say that the journal skins other people use is -as offensive as it may sound- their own business; it's their page, after all. Just like how you care about how your page looks, so do they. Additionally, some people make use of the CSS to organize their journal contents and make some items more accessible.

As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing wrong with asking not to see journal CSS parsed (although it's not guaranteed to look organized), but asking for the removal of that feature is wrong on several levels.

If artists want to play around with CSS they should make their own websites, then they can customize as much as they want.

A site where every page has a different style is just badly designed and frustrating to browse through.

I stumble upon ugly journals all the time; my solution is simpler and less intrusive, tho: I just leave and preferably not return.

On another note, all community-based sites offer some sort of personalization to their users' pages; taking that out would be suicide for dA, not to mention that it would leave a fair amount of disturbed people (to make matters worse, disturbed paying customers) behind, people you're not really thinking about. To add to that, users' (and groups') pages are, more or less, their pages; these are, in a sense, their websites. Just because this host implies has more unique restrictions and benefits, it doesn't make it any less one's page.
Similarly to how you're not happy with how dA changed your journal skin in their image, so may people may be unhappy with having their journals changed in your image. Think about that for a bit - you're actually asking for something similar to what you dislike; what would then make you any different from whoever called the shot of changing your journal, the one you're indirectly complaining about, in parallel?

On a final note, fixing your own journal is, fortunately, easy with a CSS skin (I'm no premium user, but I believe you can select the default skin, the 'deviant green' one), to make it match the ol' look.

I think dA prefers to keep adds under control for this thing about virus-infected adds: they have already several adds to pay attention to already (I'm quite sure that different countries show different adds, like I had to see political adds not too long ago...) and letting flash games have adds on them would make that amount bigger, so there would be bigger chances for some infected adds to appear and affect deviants :hmm:
And I think that, if dA kept every single flash-game's save-file from every deviant (plus non-users) there would be a large amount of wasted data that's actually needed for something else, so they can't just keep the files themselves... and if the data is saved in each individual pc (each PC that's used to play a game), changing the name or moving the flash file to another folder already resets the data on it... This has happened to me with some downloadable flash games: If I moved it to another folder and then moved it back to it's old folder, the data was completely reseted....
The solution I can think of would be generating external files with the data on them, so they could be moved around and/or copyed for back-up, like "walfa's create" can generate a code for each character made that can be used to re-create it in another PC, or "Punk-o-Matic 2" for the songs and characters, etc...

... Dunno, that's just my opinion... Which I doubt is useful, since is mostly wild guessing :saddummy:

"PS4. Fix your file directories so Flash games don't lose their saved data when you update them."
Download them to the PC, play with Adobe Flash Player Standalone/Projector. You can download it for free in Flash Player Support page in Adobe.

A work-around isn't as good as a fix.
Especially since DA is like the only site ever that actually has this problem.

Not the only. Some ammateur hosts, and even intermediates, makes the same mistakes. Besides, having it saved in your PC can spare you the trouble of searching again or of it being deleted from the sites you know you can find it.

Ah, also, sometimes the cleanning of temporary data from your computer may erase flash games' temporary files. Happened a lot when my brother cleanned the system.

you mean something like partnership of youtube? (PS6), it could be possible, but deviantart have way less traffic than youtube, but hey, paying for a premium membership and get rid of the ads is the way they get money out of you (i think).

disabling favs messages?, and then how can you thank them for the fav?(lol)

Well YouTube's gotta have massive hosting costs, and yet they still manage to share some money. DA's mostly just hosting images.

But I guess Google running YT is a huge bonus, since they have tons of information about everyone.
