Soon British people will have to "opt in" and ask their internet service providers to let them see porn on the internet.
This is going to be very awkward for a lot of households...

They also want girls to stop dressing like sluts apparently.

I'm not sure how to feel about all this, but it seems like parents can't control their kids and are blaming everyone else for their problems.

and this is why the colonists revolted against Britain and made America, because they did stuff like this to piss people off for shits and giggles. i can see there point but this isnt the way to go about trying to solve it. there gonna find out someday so why not give them the free will to search what they want to search.

... I'm not sure whether to laugh about the absurdity of trying to ban porn, or cry for you poor souls if it actually happens.
Porn is an industry in and of itself. People pay money for it! Hell, it probably accounts for 1 or 2% of the national income over here!
That being said, no one likes to admit that they watch it to the public at large.
And dressing like a slut should be reserved for actual sluts.
Anyways, I hope they don't ban porn for you guys.

"There will also be a website, Parentport, which parents can use to complain about television programmes, advertisements, products or services which they believe are inappropriate for children."

That sentence combined with the fact that a Christain charity was mentioned in an earlier paragraph get's me thinking that over-protective Christian mothers are going to be complaining about new and innovative cartoons. This is why we don't see stuff like Ren and Stimpy anymore and soon it could be much harder to get them broadcast.

I don't really see porn as a good thing but I wonder what happened to people being able to make their own decisions on what they watch. I understand and agree with trying to stop the sexualisation of children though, at least on a morals front which I assume it's driven by.

Ha, I'm sure kids will find a way around it. I mean there's plenty of dirty stuff on this site, are they gonna block sites like this one as well?

As for sluttly clothes, then don't buy them for your kids :/ . Tell them to get a job to buy their own slutty clothes, at least then they'll learn job skills.

This is quite silly, shouldn't this already be covered by normal parental restrictions available on computers? If anything it should be an opt-in to remove the ability to access pornographic sites. This could actually limit the work of many artists, photographers and models I know. (not porn, but I know people that do nude, erotica and more risqué burlesque performances.)

In all seriousness, lolwut. That's kinda hard to ban seeing as the internet can't automatically split up porn and normal site on the dot. On top of that, a couple of days ago, I used Yahoo search "Jessie :U", looking for that face and I had safesearch on, right? A couple of porn pictures. :c

Pretty sure it was to be offered as an option provided to famillies by their ISP, not like Britain: "lol let's shut off pornography just for gits and shiggles."

What happened to the USA being the fucked up country? I mean, other than the economic problems here and there (which I'm assuming is kind of affecting you guys now), we don't have much in the way of problems. Parents over here are becoming a little less strict, caring, and politically correct. I mean, there's the whole happy meals "no toys" thing in San Francisco and the cookie monster becoming diabetic and is now the "Veggie monster" or something like that. But that's just really a health kick. Now depriving someone of their porn or a major entertainment site? That's just inhumane.

OK the getting rid of smutty clothes aimed at kids I agree with, but, I mean, if I wanted to (which I will) I can just get porn! And... what is the problem with porn in families? But I don't want to rant, I understand the motives, in part, but the fact it inconveniences me specifically (and many of my peers) has got me grizzled.

Think you have to first subscribe to the package, and then opt in for the porn or whatever.
So basically, unless people are in the know to what package to subscribe to, it may not change anything.

Yeah parents do that, young generation parent I have notice to day. My parents never let me go out of control but still gave me enough freedom that I didn't go crazy. I think it's the fact people are getting married way to young and they are not ready for kids. So their immaturity makes them want the rest of the world to accommodate for their lack of judgment and have everyone else look after their kids.

Wow.. What a pointless law.. I mean.. Why ban porn so badly??
Either way kids are just gona find a way to watch it or do it.. If it comes to porn in the internet.. C'mon.. Just a bypass and your done !!.. Not to mention that if the porn get banned, then everyone will get those "underwater", just like the drugs do..
And for the clothing.. Like if there will be one office in every corner.. C'mon.. They just CANT see every little hole in the corner... Not to mention that there will be places where some "Adults" will watch or even charge to stay in a place where you can "Stay like you want"...

My point is... Even banning it or not banning it.. People will still do it.. No matter how they try to ban it.. There is always a way to get what you want.. Specially this stupid "law". By the way.. Luck on that "law".

With that written.. I take my leave.

~Saludos~

PROXIES.
Because really, if they're going to say 'only if you ask', that's not much of a ban, as such they ought to not mind proxies.

ASIDE FROM THAT. This is exceptionally stupid and just plain won't work out.

Most kids have been proven to be better with computers than their parents. Surely they will find proxies. When that happens, every single of their friends will also know.

>_> I can see it now.
*person picks up phone*
"Uhm, yes, I would like you to allow me to watch porn on my internet, so opt-in me please..."
I don't think anyone wants to have to hear hundreds of requests of being opt-in each day... :|

Personally, porn is not something I like, however some people really like it. (I don't see how watching a guy shove his **** up a girl's ****** for hours is entertaining... .3.). But, some people like this stuff, and the government shouldn't have the right to determine what a person can do in their free time.
